Mites is SOLD OUT! Junior and Rookie Ball spaces still available
CLP T-Ball is an entirely volunteer run organization and is only successful due to the generous nature of parents and other volunteers. There is no experience necessary to be a coach!
We aim to have 2 coaches per team.
Rules - Review and become familiar with the rules for their division. Teach players the rules of the game.
We are a learning and development league, so many players will be playing t-ball for the first time. Understanding the rules is just as important as learning how to bat and catch!
Field Supervisors will be available for any questions or clarifications of the rules during game night
Team Bag - There is no on-site storage available for team equipment bags. Coaches are expected to assume responsibility of the team bag and ensure that it is brought to the field each week. The team bag includes the t-ball stand, helmets and bats required for play, so it must be brought each week. If you are unable to attend a game, alternate arrangements will need to be made to ensure the equipment bag is still available to the team.
Practice - Coaches are to hold a practice session from 6-6:30 pm on game nights. This will give the opportunity for players to learn the basic skills that can be further developed during game play.
Game Play - Coaches are expected to direct the team during game play. This will include, but not be limited to the following activities: set-up the game play (i.e. positions), establish batter line-up, set-up the t-ball stand and support each batter.
Rookie Ball coaches will operate the pitching machine while their team is at bat
Coaches are not expected to do everything! There are many parents willing to provide on-field assistance such as assisting players with helmets, organizing the batting line-up, base coaching etc. Please engage the parents on your team for support!
If you are interested in coaching t-ball or rookie ball this year please indicate that on your child(ren)s registration form or e-mail us at clarksontball@gmail.com!
Although we all want our child to grow up to be an MLB player, our goals are CLP T-Ball / Rookie Ball are not quite so lofty. At the end of the season, we hope players will have learned the following:
How to follow directions during a game
Hit off of a tee (mites / junior) or from the pitching machine (rookie ball)
Play catch
Field ground balls
Identify and run the bases in the correct order
The basic rules of baseball
And most importantly, we hope that they have HAD FUN!!
